The open-source virtualization platform Proxmox VE has announced the establishment of a new North American operations centre in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. This centre will chiefly provide support services to enterprise customers in North America. At the same time, Proxmox announced that its paid enterprise support hours will expand from Austrian business hours to round-the-clock coverage, so that enterprise customers can obtain support at any time.
Reserved for Paying Enterprise Customers
At present, official Proxmox support is concentrated mainly on weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Austrian time. Because of the time difference, North American customers often could not obtain timely enterprise support during their own working hours. For customers who prize long-term stability, prompt and effective support is essential, and so Proxmox has decided to establish the North American operations centre.
Following the adjustment, Proxmox Premium subscribers will receive round-the-clock support from 19 October. From Q4 2026, Proxmox Standard customers will also gain around-the-clock support. Basic subscribers remain unchanged for now, without priority-support privileges. Nevertheless, as Proxmox’s global team covers more time zones, actual response times should shorten.
Proxmox specifically stressed that it will not outsource in the manner of certain companies, an implicit reference to Broadcom’s VMware. According to the company’s announcement, the new service is handled entirely by Proxmox’s own engineering team and will not be handed directly to a third-party provider.
The Canadian Subsidiary Will Run North American Operations
The newly established Canadian subsidiary will subsequently take full charge of Proxmox’s North American operations. This includes sales, contracts, procurement, training, and local-hours technical support across the US and Canadian markets. Customers can also settle purchases in US or Canadian dollars. Existing North American customer contracts remain valid, and from 2027, renewals may be transferred to the Canadian subsidiary.
Subscription Pricing
Proxmox VE subscription pricing is calculated primarily by CPU socket rather than by CPU core count. Premium costs 1,100 euros per socket per year, Standard 550 euros, Basic 370 euros, and the Community edition 120 euros. The tiers do not restrict virtualization features; the main differences lie in the level of technical support and response times.
