Meta Says It Has Caught Up to the Frontier
After more than a year and tens of billions of dollars spent rebuilding its AI infrastructure, Meta has made a bold claim. It says it now matches the industry’s leading frontier models.
The company has introduced the Muse Wonder models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full. Meta calls them a major leap on the road toward “personal superintelligence.”
Active Memory and Active Focus
According to Meta, the two models perform especially well on legal, financial, and health tasks. They also deliver frontier-level coding performance.
Their biggest technical highlights are two new core mechanisms. Meta designed both for long-running AI agent tasks.
Active Memory
The model can remember what truly matters to a user across many conversations over long periods. Then, during the current task, it automatically retrieves the relevant details and context.
Active Focus
This feature gives AI agents stronger staying power. On complex, multi-step tasks, the model keeps moving toward the user’s final goal. As a result, it does not stall or lose its logic after a setback along the way.
Coming to the Muse Assistant
These features matter because Meta plans to build the Wonder models into Muse, its personal assistant. Paying subscribers will get access first. The models should help them finish larger projects over long spans of time.
Frontier Claims Meet Monetization
For Meta, the launch marks a key milestone. CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke about it in an interview with the Financial Times.
He explained that reaching the frontier took rigorous research from Meta’s internal superintelligence team. It also took enormous compute and capital. Meta estimates that its AI ambitions will consume as much as 145 billion dollars in capital spending this year.
Pricing and Access
Alongside that huge investment, Meta is speeding up monetization. The new models are now rolling out to paying subscribers:
- Muse Wonder: Available through Meta’s API and its Muse Code developer tool. API pricing is 4 dollars per million input tokens and 20 dollars per million output tokens.
- Muse Wonder Full: The full-power model has a higher paywall. It is open only to Muse Code users on the 50-dollar-per-month advanced usage tier or the 200-dollar-per-month extreme usage tier.
