As previously announced by Microsoft, the company has officially unveiled a new 12-inch Surface Pro and a 13-inch Surface Laptop, aiming to further expand the Surface product lineup. Both devices are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor and fully adhere to the “Copilot+ PC” design standard.
Thanks to their more compact displays, the overall weight of the devices has been notably reduced—the 12-inch Surface Pro weighs a mere 680 grams, while the 13-inch Surface Laptop comes in at just 1.22 kilograms.
In addition to the Snapdragon X Plus processor, both models are equipped with 16GB of RAM and offer storage options of either 256GB or 512GB. However, unlike previous Surface models, these devices employ non-removable SSDs.
The 12-inch Surface Pro features an LCD display with a resolution of 2196 x 1464 and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. The 13-inch Surface Laptop also uses an LCD panel, supporting 1080p resolution at a 60Hz refresh rate.
Notably, Microsoft has eliminated the traditional Surface Connect charging port from these models, opting instead for USB-C charging. Both the 12-inch Surface Pro and the 13-inch Surface Laptop come with dual USB-C ports supporting USB 3.2, capable of delivering 45W and 60W fast charging respectively. Additionally, the 13-inch Surface Laptop includes a USB Type-A port and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
It’s worth noting that the 12-inch Surface Pro does not come bundled with a charger, whereas the 13-inch Surface Laptop still includes a 45W power adapter.
Pricing for the 12-inch Surface Pro starts at $799, making it $200 less expensive than the entry-level 13-inch Surface Pro. The Surface Keyboard, sold separately, is priced at $149 when bundled with the Surface Pro, and its dimensions differ from those designed for the 13-inch variant.
The 13-inch Surface Laptop is priced from $899, and both models are scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. on May 20.
Furthermore, commercial editions of both the 12-inch Surface Pro and the 13-inch Surface Laptop will be launched in select markets on July 22. These enterprise-focused versions will ship with Windows 11 Pro, anti-reflective displays, integrated NFC readers, and enhanced security management features tailored for business environments.
