Microsoft has confirmed that the newly released Microsoft Edge v153 harbors a web-app compatibility bug. Some web applications stop responding in the midst of user operation, the browser window freezes, and the mouse and keyboard can no longer function normally.
The Specifics Remain Unclear for Now
Microsoft has acknowledged that the problem exists, but it has not disclosed which web applications are affected, the precise conditions that trigger the bug, or the scope of its impact. Nor has Microsoft offered a specific fix version or timeline. The company has logged the fault on its official Edge known-issues page, though the description there remains vague.
Microsoft advises affected users to roll back directly to v152 to restore normal use, then upgrade to v153 again once a new fixed version is released. The customer-management system developer Salesforce has meanwhile confirmed that many of its applications suffer freezing in Chrome and Microsoft Edge v153. Salesforce details the incident on its Trust Status page.
It is possible that Salesforce-related applications are the ones chiefly affected at present. If a user does not rely on web applications, or is only lightly affected, there is no need to roll back the version. One may simply continue using the v153 series and await Microsoft’s update.
