Apple’s Siri: 2026 Redesign, HomePod Delayed

Previous reports have suggested that Apple’s upgraded Siri digital assistant will be delayed until 2026, which in turn has pushed back the launch of the screen-equipped HomePod. According to a Bloomberg report, the HomePod with a built-in display is not expected to debut until 2026, as its release is contingent on the official rollout of the new Siri.
Barring any surprises, Apple is likely to provide an update on the development of the new Siri at WWDC 2025, scheduled for this June, along with a preview of its upcoming features.
Apple initially announced plans to revamp Siri during WWDC 2024, positioning the upgrade as part of its broader “Apple Intelligence” initiative. However, subsequent reports have pointed to significant design challenges that have caused repeated delays. As a result, some in the industry view Apple as lagging behind in the AI-powered digital assistant race, especially as competitors like Google, Amazon, and startups such as OpenAI have already begun releasing next-generation assistants powered by large language models.
The upcoming HomePod with a screen is rumored to feature a nearly square 7-inch display and an integrated camera. It will reportedly run a new operating system called homeOS, support FaceTime, and integrate with Apple’s ecosystem of apps and services. Designed to serve as a smart home hub, the device is expected to enable more natural and intuitive voice interactions through the revamped Siri.
Another conceptual design in development may feature a mechanical arm, also supporting Apple Intelligence, though further details about this variant remain undisclosed.
