Leaked: Intel’s 800 Series Motherboard Lineup Revealed

The release of Intel’s next-generation processors is approximately 2 to 3 months away. However, at the Taipei Computer Show, various manufacturers have already showcased their Intel 800 series motherboards. According to the latest leaked information, the Intel 800 series motherboards include five models: the Z890, B860, and H810 for consumer use, the Q870 for commercial use, and the W880 for workstations. The specifics of the H870 remain uncertain.

This information was revealed by @jaykihn0. The Z890 will be launched alongside the Core Ultra 200 desktop processors, while the remaining models are expected to debut at next year’s CES. The top-tier Z890 and W880 platforms boast 60 HSIO lanes, with 26 from the CPU and 34 from the PCH. Previous leaks indicate that the Arrow Lake-S processors feature 24 PCIe lanes, comprising 20 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 4 PCIe 4.0 lanes. The 20 PCIe 5.0 lanes can be configured in various modes such as 16+4, 8+8+4, or 8+4+4+4. The remaining two HSIO lanes correspond to two Thunderbolt 4 interfaces provided by the CPU.

The Z890 PCH connects to the CPU via DMI Gen 4 x8, offering up to 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes, up to 8 SATA 6Gbps ports, and a total of 10 USB 3.0 ports, configurable as up to 10 USB 5Gbps, 10 USB 10Gbps, or 5 USB 20Gbps ports. The PCH can support up to 14 USB ports in total. The W880 shares the same expansion capabilities as the Z890, with the key difference being that the Z890 supports CPU overclocking, while the W880 does not. However, the W880 supports ECC memory and Intel vPro technology.

Compared to the Z890, the Q870 has reduced PCIe 4.0 lanes to 20, one less USB 20Gbps port, and two fewer USB 10Gbps ports. It does not support CPU overclocking or ECC memory but does support Intel vPro technology. Any future H870 specifications can be inferred from these details.

The B860 specifications are significantly scaled back from the Z890. It has one fewer Thunderbolt 4 interface, lacks CPU-provided PCIe 4.0 lanes, and does not support PCIe 5.0 lane splitting, limited to a 16+4 configuration. The PCH connects to the CPU via DMI 4.0 x4 and offers a maximum of 14 PCIe 4.0 lanes, up to 4 SATA 6Gbps ports, and a total of 12 USB ports, including 6 USB 3.0 ports. The USB ports can be configured as up to 2 USB 20Gbps, 4 USB 10Gbps, and 6 USB 5Gbps ports, with no support for PCIe RAID.

The H810 specifications are further reduced, with memory support limited to 1DPC, no support for memory overclocking, and video output interfaces reduced from 4 to 3. It does not support any RAID configurations. The CPU provides only a PCIe 5.0 x16 lane for display purposes, and the PCH offers 8 PCIe 4.0 lanes, up to 4 SATA 6Gbps ports, and a total of 10 USB ports, including 4 USB 3.0 ports. It lacks USB 20Gbps ports but offers 2 USB 10Gbps ports.
