Zotac ZONE Packs Ryzen 7 8840U, Not Ryzen Z1 Extreme
Not long ago, Zotac announced that it would unveil a new gaming handheld at Computex 2024. The official release did not disclose much information, only mentioning that it features a 7-inch AMOLED multi-touch high-refresh-rate screen and a dual-stage trigger lock with adjustable trigger travel, with an ergonomically designed grip.
Videocardz has now obtained the specifications for this handheld, the Zotac ZONE handheld, which utilizes the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, the latest Hawk Point processor, rather than the Ryzen Z1 Extreme designed specifically for handhelds. It boasts 8 Zen 4 cores with a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz and is equipped with a Radeon 780M integrated GPU, featuring 12 RDNA3 CU units. The specifications indicate a default TDP of 15W, which can be unlocked to 28W.
The screen is a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 800 nits. In terms of storage, it comes with 16GB of onboard LPDDR5X memory, possibly running at 7500MT/s, and a standard 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, with support for M.2 2280 SSDs.
The battery capacity is 48.5Wh, providing a gaming endurance of 1.25 hours, which is relatively short. In comparison, ASUS’s upcoming Ally X will feature an 80Wh battery. However, the overall weight of the device is relatively light, expected to be under 700g. Zotac will showcase this handheld at next week’s Computex, though it is not the final version, with a planned release in the third quarter of this year.
