Xbox Series Expands: 2TB, Digital, and Sleek White Options
Microsoft has announced the release of three new Xbox series gaming consoles: the 2TB Xbox Series X in black with a disc drive, the 1TB Xbox Series X in white as a digital edition, and the 1TB Xbox Series S in white, further expanding their product line.
Earlier this year, reports surfaced indicating that Microsoft planned to launch the new Xbox Series X white digital edition in June or July, with subsequent design leaks. Initially, Microsoft intended to redesign the Xbox Series X digital edition, codenamed “Brooklin,” with a cylindrical appearance, as revealed in the court documents from the FTC lawsuit against Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. However, they later reverted to the original design.
Microsoft has not provided specific details on the changes yet. Rumors suggest that Microsoft primarily optimized the cooling system, modified the internal components of the Xbox Series X white digital edition, and equipped it with a custom SoC manufactured using a 6nm process, reducing power consumption by 15%. Additionally, it will feature Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
Last June, Microsoft introduced the Xbox Series S black edition, which not only featured a color change but also an upgrade in storage from 512GB to 1TB, matching the Xbox Series X. The current Xbox Series S white edition only differs in its exterior color.
Microsoft has also announced the pricing for the three new models:
- Xbox Series X – 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: $599.99
- Xbox Series X – 1TB Digital Edition: $449.99
- Xbox Series S – 1TB in Robot White: $349.99
