Windows 11 24H2 Update: Ubisoft Patches Pave the Way for Cautious Rollout

Windows 11 Ubisoft Games

Microsoft has lifted the update block for Windows 11 24H2 on devices running Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora following the release of interim fixes by Ubisoft. Previously, the update was restricted due to widespread user complaints about crashes, freezes, and audio issues in these games. However, problems with titles in the Assassin’s Creed series remain unresolved.

Reports flooded platforms such as Reddit, Microsoft forums, and the Windows Insider Feedback Hub, where users noted that games either crashed immediately upon launch or froze after a few minutes. In response, Microsoft implemented an update restriction to safeguard a broader user base.

Ubisoft swiftly released patches, enabling Microsoft to partially lift the update block for some users. Nevertheless, performance issues may persist on certain devices. Microsoft advises against manually updating systems until these issues are fully stabilized.

Meanwhile, Windows users faced another disruption due to a block tied to an outdated version of Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook. Devices with the outdated program experienced errors during startup, accompanied by the message, “Cannot open the Outlook window.”

To resolve this, Microsoft recommends upgrading Google Workspace Sync to version 4.3.68.0. However, after updating to Windows 11 24H2, users are unable to uninstall or reinstall this utility.

Additionally, update blocks for Windows 11 24H2 affect devices with outdated Intel Smart Sound Technology drivers, certain USB scanners, integrated cameras, and other incompatible components.

Thus, even after the partial resolution of issues with Ubisoft games, users are urged to thoroughly check the compatibility of their devices and applications before proceeding with the system update. Better yet, they are advised to delay updating unless absolutely necessary.
