Signal Enhances Group Calls with New Features and Improved Security
Signal Messenger has introduced updates to group calls, enhancing both convenience and security in communication. Users can now create call links, allowing participants to join calls without the need to set up a group chat, significantly streamlining the connection process—just a double-click on the link is sufficient.
Moreover, these links are reusable, and administrators have the authority to approve or deny join requests and block unwanted participants, providing greater control over call access.
The call links feature complements other improvements aimed at enriching the call experience on Signal. Users can now “raise a hand” to join the conversation and use emoji reactions, adding emotion and dynamism without interrupting speakers. These features foster active engagement without disrupting the flow.
Signal emphasizes that all calls remain fully encrypted, ensuring conversation security. The platform utilizes its own video conferencing services, steering clear of popular solutions that might track users.
Among other enhancements is a dedicated tab for calls, available on both mobile and desktop. This feature enables users to quickly access call history and manage call links from a single interface.
The updated settings allow users to easily toggle camera and microphone on or off and manage audio sources. The desktop version offers multiple display modes: grid, sidebar, and active speaker mode.
All updates are now available in the latest version of Signal for Android, iOS, and desktop clients. Users are encouraged to update the app to experience these new features and improvements firsthand.
