Arm releases Cortex-X925 and A725, and Immortalis-G925/725/625
Arm has announced the launch of a series of new chip core architectures to provide a leading artificial intelligence (AI) user experience, meeting the computational needs of the market, enabling partners to more easily and quickly build Arm-based solutions, and rapidly bring them to market.
Arm introduces two new Armv9 architecture CPU cores, including the Cortex-X925 and Cortex-A725, as well as three GPUs: Immortalis-G925, Mali-G725, and Mali-G625. Additionally, the latest Corelink system interconnect and System Memory Management Units (SMMUs) are provided. Simultaneously, Arm has unveiled Arm Kleidi, allowing software developers seamless access to the best performance on Arm CPUs, including KleidiAI for AI workloads and KleidiCV for PC vision applications. Furthermore, Arm has optimized for the 3nm process node, preparing the new CPUs and GPUs for mass production.
The Cortex-X925 is the next-generation Cortex-X core, with Arm changing its previous naming convention. The core frequency can be boosted up to 3.6 GHz. Compared to the Cortex-X4, single-core performance has increased by 36%, thanks to the 3MB private L2 cache, while AI performance has improved by 46%. The Cortex-A725’s performance efficiency has increased by 25% compared to the previous generation Cortex-A720, with a 20% increase in L3 cache bandwidth.
Arm claims that the new Immortalis-G925 is its “most powerful and efficient” GPU to date, supporting up to 24 cores, with a 37% improvement in graphics performance compared to the previous generation Immortalis-G720, a 50% enhancement in ray tracing performance, a 36% boost in AI/ML workload inference capability, and a 30% reduction in power consumption. Additionally, the Mali-G725 supports 6 to 9 cores, and the Mali-G625 supports 1 to 5 cores, with the former targeting mid-range mobile devices and the latter suitable for smartwatches and entry-level mobile devices.
Arm is also collaborating with Epic Games to run the Unreal Engine 5 desktop renderer on Android, potentially bringing more complex games to mobile devices.
