Oracle has unveiled the first public beta of VirtualBox 7.2, the cross-platform hypervisor compatible with Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris. Among the most notable innovations is support for Windows 11 on the Arm architecture—both as a host and guest operating system.
The 7.2 beta release introduces native Arm virtualization support within a unified installer for Windows. Compatibility with VirtualBox Guest Additions has also been extended to Windows 11 Arm-based guests.
In addition, this release features a refined user interface and enhancements aimed at improving the performance of virtual machines running on Arm platforms. Further details regarding the implemented changes can be found in the official announcement at VirtualBox.org.
It was also announced that the source code for VirtualBox is now hosted on GitHub. The complete open-source codebase is available here.
