During the recent State of Play livestream, Sony unveiled its forthcoming wireless arcade fight stick initiative, codenamed “Project Defiant.” The device is designed to meet the demanding input precision of fighting game enthusiasts, featuring PlayStation Link technology to deliver ultra-low latency wireless performance.
Although “Project Defiant” has yet to receive an official name, Sony plans to launch the product in 2026 and will release further details in the coming months.
Developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Project Defiant incorporates design elements from the DualSense wireless controller, presented in a striking black-and-white color scheme. The buttons feature the iconic PlayStation symbols, and the device connects wirelessly to the PlayStation 5 via a USB dongle equipped with PlayStation Link technology. It also supports direct wired connection via a USB-C cable.
PlayStation Link promises exceptionally low-latency wireless transmission, akin to Razer’s HyperSpeed technology and Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED system—both engineered to deliver esports-grade responsiveness in wireless input.
As with the DualSense Edge wireless controller, Sony will include a dedicated carrying case for Project Defiant, ensuring convenient portability for users on the go.
