Radeon RX Series Gets Major Boost: AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 Arrives
AMD has announced the release of Fluid Motion Frames 2 (AFMF 2) technology, an upgraded version of its frame generation technology. This enhancement is designed to improve game fluidity and frame rates, bringing several enhancements and expanded compatibility to the Radeon RX 6000/7000 series graphics cards.
In September 2023, AMD introduced the original AFMF technology as part of FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0 (FSR 3), which is compatible with all DirectX 11/12 games. When frame generation is activated, performance can potentially double. Following the initial release, AMD addressed major issues like stuttering through significant improvements to the preview driver, officially incorporating the improved version into the driver in January 2024. Now, AMD offers a preview of AFMF 2 technology, promising gamers a faster and smoother gaming experience.
