Sony recently announced that its PlayStation Stars rewards program, launched in July 2022, will be officially discontinued on November 2, 2026. After that date, the program will no longer be available.
While Sony has not disclosed the reasons behind the termination, the company emphasized its commitment to evolving and introducing new services that align with the changing needs of the gaming community.
According to Sony’s official statement, all activities related to PlayStation Stars—including level progression—will cease at 10:59 PM on July 23 of this year. Users will no longer be able to earn additional rewards or enjoy membership benefits. However, any remaining points may still be redeemed for items available in the rewards catalog, provided they have not expired.
Players will continue to have the option to cancel their membership at any time. However, beginning May 21, those who cancel will not be able to re-enroll in the program, and all accumulated points will be forfeited. Digital collectibles previously acquired will remain accessible to the user.
The PlayStation Stars initiative appeared to draw inspiration from similar loyalty programs such as Microsoft Rewards—offered through the Microsoft Store and Xbox Live—and Google’s Play Points on the Play Store. These programs are designed to deepen user engagement and encourage broader usage of platform services.
