Chromebook AI Boost: MediaTek’s New Ultra 910

MediaTek has unveiled the Kompanio Ultra 910, a flagship processor designed specifically for the new generation of Chromebook Plus devices, aiming to significantly enhance on-device artificial intelligence processing capabilities.
The Kompanio Ultra 910 stands as MediaTek’s most advanced offering for Chromebooks, delivering up to 50 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) of AI performance. This empowers the device to efficiently handle generative AI workloads locally, without relying on cloud-based processing.
Equipped with MediaTek’s eighth-generation NPU, the chip enables swift, secure, and energy-efficient AI operations on the device itself. It supports real-time task automation, personalized computing, and seamless AI-driven experiences.
Fabricated using an advanced 3nm process, the Kompanio Ultra 910 adopts an all-big-core CPU architecture similar to that found in MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity series. At its heart lies the Arm Cortex-X925 core, clocking up to 3.62GHz, delivering industry-leading single-thread and multi-thread performance ideal for intensive workloads such as video editing, content creation, and high-resolution gaming.
In terms of power efficiency, MediaTek claims the Kompanio Ultra 910 offers all-day battery life, supported by sophisticated power management features and high-capacity cache design, ensuring prolonged usage on a single charge for productivity, streaming, and more.
Additionally, the chipset supports dual 4K external display outputs, Hi-Fi audio processing for crystal-clear calls and immersive sound, and is equipped with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity for high-speed wireless performance.
Chromebooks powered by the Kompanio Ultra 910 are expected to hit the market in the coming months, although MediaTek has yet to announce its initial manufacturing partners.
