The redesigned CarPlay interface, first unveiled during WWDC 2022 and long delayed since, has finally made its official debut—though, for now, it is exclusively available on Aston Martin models sold within the United States and Canada.
Dubbed “CarPlay Ultra,” the new interface requires an iPhone 12 or newer, and users must update their devices to iOS 18.5. Beginning immediately, all Aston Martin vehicles ordered in the U.S. or Canada will come pre-installed with this enhanced system.
In terms of user experience, CarPlay Ultra brings the interface even closer to the familiar iPhone environment. Its hallmark feature is seamless support for multi-display configurations found in modern vehicles, allowing integration of widgets and access to installed iPhone apps directly on the car’s display.
Furthermore, CarPlay Ultra adapts aesthetically to the vehicle’s interior and style while integrating core in-car controls—such as climate settings, tire pressure monitoring, and even access to driver-assistance features. Interaction is not limited to intuitive touch controls; users can also operate the system using voice commands via Siri.
At present, CarPlay Ultra is limited to the U.S. and Canadian markets, but it is expected to roll out globally within the coming year. Future integration is anticipated with models from Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, and additional automotive partners.
