Apple iPhone 16 Pro series may support Wi-Fi 7
In approximately two months, Apple will unveil the new iPhone 16 series. The higher-end iPhone 16 Pro series will feature an array of new functionalities, including the adoption of periscope telephoto lenses, necessitating a redesign of the chassis. Additionally, Apple will employ more advanced technologies to further differentiate the Pro models from the standard ones.
According to DigiTimes, Apple plans to equip the iPhone 16 Pro series with Wi-Fi 7 chips, enabling devices to simultaneously utilize the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands. This enhancement will boost wireless network speed, reduce latency, and ultimately offer a wireless data transmission rate of 40Gbps, quadrupling that of the iPhone 15 series. However, the two standard iPhone 16 models will continue to support only Wi-Fi 6E.
To benefit from the speed improvements of Wi-Fi 7, users will need a compatible Wi-Fi 7 router, which is not yet widespread. Analysts believe that as technology evolves and costs decrease, the iPhone 16 Pro series’ support for Wi-Fi 7 will stimulate the sales of related products.
Moreover, it is rumored that the iPhone 16 Pro series will feature additional AI-related functions, requiring the A18 Pro chip. At this year’s WWDC 24, Apple introduced a new AI technology service named Apple Intelligence. Recently, some features have begun testing in the latest iOS 18.1 beta. Reports suggest that Apple is seeking collaboration with local Chinese companies to integrate Apple Intelligence, thereby enhancing the AI capabilities of the iPhone 16 series.
