Amazon’s AI: Recaps & Review Highlights Unveiled

Amazon has recently unveiled several AI-powered features, including a new function for Kindle e-books called “Recaps,” designed to help users quickly revisit the content they previously read through AI-generated summaries.
Much like a “Previously on…” segment in television series, the Recaps feature offers concise highlights of earlier chapters, making it easier for readers to recall details from books they haven’t returned to in some time.
In a statement confirmed to TechCrunch, Amazon affirmed that Recaps leverages artificial intelligence, emphasizing that the generated summaries are crafted to avoid hallucinations—meaning they do not include content that wasn’t present in the original text.
However, Amazon acknowledged that some degree of risk remains and advised users to be attentive to potential inaccuracies within the AI-generated summaries.
At present, the Recaps feature is available exclusively on Kindle devices within the United States and is limited to English-language titles. Amazon also plans to expand the feature to the Kindle app on iOS in the near future.
In addition to using AI for e-book summarization, Amazon has previously introduced AI-driven product review highlights on its e-commerce platform, helping users more efficiently assess whether a product aligns with their needs amid a sea of customer feedback.
