Ten Drops, No Cracks: Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic Debut
Following its legacy of reinforced glass innovations, Corning has unveiled its latest advancement: Gorilla Glass Ceramic—a next-generation protective material engineered from transparent, high-strength glass-ceramic. This new offering promises superior drop resistance, particularly when compared to competing products made from aluminosilicate glass.
Crafted from a resilient and optically clear glass-ceramic composite, Gorilla Glass Ceramic excels in impact protection on rough surfaces, outperforming conventional materials in challenging environments.

According to tests conducted in Corning’s laboratories, Gorilla Glass Ceramic remained fully intact after enduring ten successive drops from a height of one meter onto a simulated asphalt surface. In contrast, standard aluminosilicate glass typically shatters upon first impact.
The debut implementation of Gorilla Glass Ceramic will appear in an upcoming Motorola device within the next few months, with broader integration anticipated across a range of future product designs.
