VAIO Vision+ 14: Ultra-Light, Ultra-Thin, and Ultra-Bright
Portable monitors are no longer a novelty, as various sizes, resolutions, and refresh rates are easily available, with some even supporting touch functionality. According to reports from Liliputing, Tom’s Hardware, and PC Watch, the Japanese notebook manufacturer VAIO has recently introduced what it claims to be the world’s lightest portable monitor, the VAIO Vision+ 14.
This 14-inch LCD screen weighs a mere 325 grams, making it slightly lighter than the 11-inch iPad Pro. It boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1200 (16:10 ratio), a brightness of 400 nits, a viewing angle of 178 degrees, and an anti-glare feature. The monitor’s dimensions are 312 x 211 x 12.4mm, with its thinnest point measuring just 3.9mm.
The VAIO Vision+ 14 features two USB Type-C ports on one side, supporting PD Pass-through and DP-Alt. While a 10W power supply is sufficient to drive the screen, the official recommendation is to use a 65W or higher charger if the user intends to utilize PD Pass-through for a laptop or handheld device.
For ease of use, VAIO includes a protective cover with a metal stand. However, the issue is that this cover is heavier than the monitor itself, weighing in at 440 grams. This means that if you choose to carry the complete setup, the monitor‘s total weight is actually 765 grams.
Finally, in terms of pricing, the VAIO Vision+ 14 will be launched in Japan this week at a price of 54,800 yen. It remains unclear whether it will be available in other countries and regions.
