The listing price of Ryzen 9 9950X will be lower than the previous generation
At Computex 2024 in Taipei, AMD announced that the Ryzen 9000 series processors, utilizing the Zen 5 architecture, will be released in July. The new generation architecture boasts a 16% increase in IPC, significantly enhancing performance. The accompanying X870E/X870 chipsets will be released two months later, but the Ryzen 9000 series is compatible with existing AM5 motherboards, so this is not a major issue.
The initial release will include four Ryzen 9000 processors: Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X. These processors maintain the same core counts as their predecessors, with 16, 12, 8, and 6 cores respectively. Wccftech has identified some retailers who have prematurely listed these processors. Although final prices are not yet confirmed, the Ryzen 9 9950X appears to be priced lower than the launch price of the Ryzen 9 7950X.
Canada Computers lists the Ryzen 9 9950X at 839 CAD (610 USD), which is lower than the Ryzen 9 7950X’s launch price of 939 CAD (683 USD). Currently, the Ryzen 9 7950X is priced at 719 CAD (522 USD). The launch price of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D was the same as the 7950X, and it is now priced at 749 CAD (545 USD).
Additionally, the Philippine retailer Bermorzone has listed the prices for the entire Ryzen 9000 series: Ryzen 9 9950X at 38,000 PHP (647.93 USD), Ryzen 9 9900X at 35,000 PHP (596.77 USD), Ryzen 7 9700X at 24,000 PHP (409.21 USD), and Ryzen 5 9600X at 18,500 PHP (315.43 USD).
Rumors suggested that the pricing of the Ryzen 9000 processors would be similar to the Ryzen 7000 series, and the current prices from these retailers seem to confirm that the 9900X, 9700X, and 9600X are indeed comparably priced to their predecessors. According to some retailers, the specific release time is 9 AM Eastern Time on July 31. In any case, reviews of the Ryzen 9000 processors will undoubtedly be available in July.
