At IFA 2024, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an 8-core design, promising to enable “Copilot+ PC” laptops priced as low as $600. Ahead of CES 2025, the company has unveiled the more entry-level Snapdragon X processor, extending its lineup for budget-friendly computing solutions.
The Snapdragon X processor retains the 8-core architecture, operates at a clock speed of 3.0 GHz, and omits the boost functionality. The Adreno GPU delivers a graphical performance of 1.7 TFLOPS, consistent with the base-level Snapdragon X Plus configuration, while the NPU maintains a computational capability of 45 TOPS, aligning with Microsoft’s “Copilot+ PC” design standards.
Additional specifications include support for LPDDR5x memory with a data transfer rate of 8448 MT/s, PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs, 5G connectivity, and Wi-Fi 7 wireless transmission. The processor also supports simultaneous output to three 4K60 displays or two QHD screens at 120Hz, catering to versatile display needs.
Currently available in a single model, the “X1-26-100,” the Snapdragon X processor mirrors the entry-level Snapdragon X Plus in design. However, by removing the boost functionality and reducing the maximum clock speed, Qualcomm has managed to further lower the processor’s cost, allowing OEMs to produce “Copilot+ PC”-compliant laptops at competitive price points.
Qualcomm also emphasized its collaboration with Microsoft under the App Assure program since 2018. To date, over 1,000 applications and services have undergone compatibility testing, optimization, and adjustments to ensure seamless performance on Snapdragon-powered devices. Many of these applications are tailored to meet enterprise IT management needs, underscoring the suitability of laptops built on Snapdragon X processors for commercial environments.
