Samsung Unveils 2024 Monitors: Odyssey OLED, Smart & ViewFinity Series
Samsung announced the launch of the 2024 Odyssey OLED gaming monitors, Smart Monitor series, and ViewFinity series displays. Samsung stated that the new products offer desired features, with the Odyssey series providing an elevated OLED visual experience and new AI capabilities, the Smart Monitor series enhancing entertainment with improved features, and the ViewFinity series boosting connectivity.
The 2024 Odyssey OLED models include the new Odyssey OLED G8 (model G80SD) and Odyssey OLED G6 (model G60SD), featuring an ultra-slim metal design that expands Samsung’s next-generation OLED lineup. The former boasts a 32-inch, 4K UHD resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, while the latter offers a 27-inch, QHD resolution, 360Hz refresh rate. Both models have a response time of 0.03ms and a typical brightness of 250 nits, supporting AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology. Notably, the Odyssey OLED G8 is Samsung’s first AI-driven OLED gaming monitor, equipped with the NQ8 AI Gen3 chip.
These models support Samsung OLED Safeguard+, a technology to prevent screen aging; OLED Glare Free technology, which maintains color accuracy and reduces reflections, enhancing image clarity; and Core Lighting+, which augments the entertainment and gaming experience through ambient lighting synchronized with the screen.
The upgraded 2024 Smart Monitor series includes the M8 (model M80D), M7 (model M70D), and M5 (model M50D), integrating a comprehensive multi-device experience into a single hub for smarter entertainment and higher productivity.
The M8 features a 32-inch 4K screen, introducing AI-powered new features and the NQM AI processor, capable of upscaling low-resolution content to 4K. The Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses AI to analyze background noise in the user’s environment to optimize dialogue in the content. The 360 Audio Mode pairs with Galaxy Buds to create an immersive sound environment. The built-in SlimFit camera facilitates video calls through the Samsung Dex mobile app. The M7 is available in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes, both with 4K resolution, while the M5 offers 27-inch and 32-inch sizes, both with FHD resolution.
The 2024 ViewFinity series includes the ViewFinity S8 (model S80D/S80UD), ViewFinity S7 (model S70D), and ViewFinity S6 (model S60D/S60UD), made with at least 10% recycled plastic and free from chemical sprays on plastic components, thereby aiding recycling efforts.
