Ryzen 9000 Benchmarks Leak Despite Delayed Launch: 6 GHz Overclock Achieved
Although AMD has delayed the release of the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors, samples have undoubtedly been distributed. At the very least, AMD itself and motherboard manufacturers have been testing these CPUs, so various performance metrics have already appeared in numerous test databases. We have even seen results for both stock and overclocked speeds. In the Geekbench database, for instance, someone has tested the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X overclocked to 6.0GHz.
This test was conducted with an ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E motherboard and DDR5-6000 memory. The cooling method used remains unclear. In Geekbench 5, the Ryzen 9 9950X overclocked to 6.0GHz achieved a single-thread score of 2795 and a multi-thread score of 30050, representing a roughly 10% improvement in single-thread performance and a 13% improvement in multi-thread performance compared to stock speeds. This places it about 12% ahead of the Intel Core i9-14900K in single-thread performance and 16% ahead in multi-thread performance.
In Geekbench 6, the overclocked Ryzen 9 9950X scored 3706 in single-thread performance and 26047 in multi-thread performance, showing a 10% increase in single-thread performance and a 20% increase in multi-thread performance compared to the default frequency. Compared to the Intel Core i9-14900KS, it leads by 16% in single-thread performance and 19% in multi-thread performance.
According to AMD’s announcement yesterday, the originally planned July 31st release has been postponed. The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X have been delayed until August 8th, and the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X have been delayed until August 15th.
