Nvidia may release RTX 50 series laptop graphics cards in 2025
This year, NVIDIA is set to release its next-generation gaming graphics cards, the Geforce RTX 50 series, based on the Blackwell architecture, anticipated to arrive as early as the fourth quarter of this year. NVIDIA is expected to first launch products for the desktop platform, followed by an expansion into the laptop platform.
According to a report by VideoCardz, recently leaked information reveals that NVIDIA plans to introduce a new generation of Geforce RTX 50 series laptop graphics cards, codenamed “GN22,” comprising six models: X11, X9, X7, X6, X4, and X2, ranging from high-end to low-end. Currently, two PCB designs are in development, each corresponding to three models.
The Geforce RTX 50 series laptop graphics cards will start with a minimum of 8GB of VRAM, with no models featuring 6GB or less. The mainstream offerings will include three models with 8GB of VRAM, one with 12GB, and two with 16GB. All these new laptop graphics cards, based on the Blackwell architecture, will utilize GDDR7, and NVIDIA plans to reduce the TGP for certain models.
Interestingly, NVIDIA does not intend to phase out the RTX 4050, RTX 3050, and RTX 2050. These products will continue to be available in 2025, although the RTX 2050 will gradually be replaced by the 4GB version of the RTX 3050, becoming the new entry-level option.
According to the leaked documents, the Geforce RTX 50 series laptop graphics cards will debut in 2025, with the X11, X9, and X7 models expected to enter production in January 2025, while the X6, X4, and X2 models will follow in March 2025. NVIDIA is likely to unveil these new products around CES 2025. By the spring of next year, a significant number of new gaming laptops featuring the Geforce RTX 50 series laptop graphics cards are anticipated to hit the market.
