MSI releases AGESA 1.2.0.0 BIOS update
Since AMD unveiled the Ryzen 9000 series processors at Computex 2024, the release of these new processors has been drawing closer, prompting motherboard manufacturers to expedite their preparations. Recently, MSI introduced a new BIOS for AM5 motherboards, designated AGESA Combo PI-1.2.0.0. This BIOS, compatible with all AMD X670E, X670, B650, and A620 motherboards, primarily enhances the stability and performance of the Ryzen 9000 series processors. Additionally, the new BIOS includes stability optimizations for NVIDIA RTX 40 series graphics cards, particularly the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060.
However, upon investigation, it appears that as of the publication time, MSI has not yet made the AGESA Combo PI-1.2.0.0 update available on its official website, with the latest BIOS version still being AGESA Combo PI 1.1.8.0. MSI previously rolled out a significant BIOS update in April of this year, named AGESA Combo PI 1.1.7.0, which was the first version to support the Ryzen 9000 series processors.
Reports have suggested that the Ryzen 9000 series might launch on July 31, with some international retailers already listing the products prematurely. For instance, Canada Computers priced the Ryzen 9 9950X at 839 CAD (610 USD), while Filipino retailer Bermorzone listed the prices for all four Ryzen 9000 series processors: the Ryzen 9 9950X at 38,000 PHP (647.93 USD), the Ryzen 9 9900X at 35,000 PHP (596.77 USD), the Ryzen 7 9700X at 24,000 PHP (409.21 USD), and the Ryzen 5 9600X at 18,500 PHP (315.43 USD). Considering these leaked prices and MSI’s announcement of the new BIOS, it appears that the Ryzen 9000 series processors will indeed be available soon, with reviews likely emerging in July.
