Micron Crucial P310: The First M.2 2230 PCIe 4.0 SSD
Micron has announced that its Crucial brand, specializing in consumer storage products, has launched the P310, marking its first M.2 2230 PCIe 4.0 SSD, thus achieving the smallest M.2 form factor for SSDs. The new product is compatible with popular handheld gaming devices like Valve’s Steam Deck, mini PCs, and ultra-thin laptops such as Microsoft Surface Pro 8/9, allowing for more game and data-intensive content storage without compromising performance.
The P310 offers 1TB and 2TB capacities, equipped with Micron’s own 232-layer 3D QLC NAND flash, boasting sequential read and write speeds of 7100 MB/s and 6000 MB/s respectively, with 4K random read/write speeds of 1000K IOPS and 1200K IOPS. Micron has also optimized the P310 to further enhance energy efficiency, delivering higher performance at the same power level as other solutions, while reducing battery consumption and extending device usage time.
The P310 utilizes the E27T controller, Phison’s next-generation low-power, high-performance PCIe 4.0 SSD controller chip, manufactured using a 12nm process. It supports both M.2 2230 and M.2 2280 form factors; features a four-channel DRAMless design; supports TLC and QLC NAND flash with interface speeds up to 3600 MT/s; and has a maximum supported capacity of 2TB for M.2 2230 and 4TB for M.2 2280.
The P310 is now available, with the 1TB and 2TB capacities priced at $171.99 and $264.99, respectively. It can be purchased from the official website, designated retailers, and global channel partners, with a five-year warranty. Micron also announced that an M.2 2280 version of the P310, ideal for PC gaming, will be released this fall.
