Logitech releases MX Ink stylus
According to reports from UploadVR and MIXED, Logitech has recently unveiled a stylus named MX Ink. This stylus is the first third-party tracking controller officially supported by Meta, compatible with both the Quest 2 and Quest 3 platforms.
MX Ink caters to both 2D drawing and 3D creation scenarios. Its pen tip supports pressure sensitivity, allowing for detailed 2D artwork. Leveraging the inside-out tracking system of Quest headsets, it supports 6DoF positioning, enabling 3D design and creation. The MX Ink charges via a USB Type-C port at the end, with additional charging contacts near the tip. Users can purchase a charging dock for quicker charging.
The MX Ink can be used without unpairing the Touch controllers. Meta states that this is the first time Quest headsets can simultaneously track three controllers. This allows users to seamlessly switch between the Touch controllers and the MX Ink without any additional setup. Upon first pairing the MX Ink, Meta says users will be guided through a specific tutorial within the system, and an additional option will appear in the headset settings to adjust the stylus functions.
This stylus will support the following Quest applications: Gravity Sketch, PaintingVR, Arkio, Engage, OpenBrush, Gesture VR, and ShapesXR. With Quest Link/Air Link streaming capabilities, it can also support Adobe Substance Modeler on PC.
As for the release date and pricing, the MX Ink will be available at the end of September, priced at $130. The prices for accessories like the charging dock have yet to be announced.
