Leaked: Samsung Galaxy S25 to Get Significant RAM Boost
Samsung will introduce its flagship Galaxy S25 series of smartphones next year, expected to offer three models, similar to this year’s Galaxy S24 series: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Previously, rumors suggested that Samsung had no plans to upgrade the memory for the Galaxy S25 series, but this may have changed.
According to Notebookcheck, Samsung might upgrade the memory configuration of the Galaxy S25 series, with the Galaxy S25 offering an option of 12GB, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra could be enhanced to 16GB, and the Galaxy S25+ possibly maintaining at 12GB. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Samsung might adopt LPDDR5X memory with a speed of 10.7 Gbps.
Samsung has traditionally been conservative with memory configurations in the Galaxy S series. The news of increased memory capacity likely stems from the high demand for memory by AI applications on the devices. Given Samsung’s increased investment in Galaxy AI, enhancing memory configuration seems a logical choice.
Originally, Samsung planned to maintain a dual-platform strategy for the Galaxy S25 series, offering both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Exynos 2500 versions. However, the latter’s yield rate was “below expectations,” potentially leading to its abandonment. With rising prices for Snapdragon’s next-generation flagship SoC, Samsung finds it increasingly difficult to control profit margins. To maintain pricing and profit margins, compromises in other configurations may be necessary, or prices of new products might have to be increased.
Last month, it was reported that the Galaxy S25 series underwent testing with MediaTek’s SoC, possibly the Dimensity 9400. Furthermore, Samsung announced this month that the 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X has been validated on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 platform. Samsung might choose MediaTek’s solution to reduce SoC costs and enhance other configurations.
