Kioxia EXCERIA with Heatsink: Blazing-Fast PCIe 4.0 SSD for PS5 and PC

Kioxia has announced the release of its new consumer-grade solid-state drive, the “EXCERIA with Heatsink series.” This new product supports the PCIe 4.0 specification and offers three capacity options: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. It comes with a heatsink to enhance the SSD’s thermal performance and is optimized for the demanding environment of the PlayStation 5, allowing for direct installation in its M.2 SSD expansion slot for storage expansion.

The overall dimensions of the EXCERIA with Heatsink series SSDs are 80.65mm x 24.70mm x 11.20mm, meeting Sony PlayStation 5’s size requirements for solid-state drives. It features Kioxia’s BiCS 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips, uses a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, supports the NVMe 1.4 standard, and conforms to the M.2 2280 form factor, suitable for both desktop and mobile devices. Its overall performance surpasses that of the EXCERIA PLUS G3 series (also known as the SD10 series) SSDs.

Additionally, the EXCERIA with Heatsink series SSDs support Kioxia’s SSD Utility management software, which maximizes the SSD’s performance and assists users in monitoring and maintaining the SSD, such as using the health index to check its remaining life percentage.
