Intel to Launch Core Ultra 200 series & Z890 in October, Defying Delays
Previous reports suggested that the Arrow Lake-S processors might be delayed beyond initial expectations. Intel originally planned to release the first batch of Core Ultra 200 series processors, specifically the K series and Z890 motherboards, in October. However, this timeline might shift to December, possibly just before the Christmas holiday.
According to a report by Benchlife, reliable sources indicate that the delay rumors might not be accurate. Intel is likely to maintain the release schedule it followed for the 13th and 14th generation Core processors: launching the K series and Z890 motherboards in October, followed by the non-K series and B860/H810 motherboards after the CES 2025 exhibition in January.
The Core Ultra 200K series is expected to include five products:
- Intel Core Ultra i9-285K
- Intel Core Ultra i7-265K
- Intel Core Ultra i7-265KF
- Intel Core Ultra i5-245K
- Intel Core Ultra i5-245KF
Intel has already provided PreQS samples to specific motherboard manufacturers for testing, which are expected to perform similarly to the final retail versions. Among the new 800 series chipsets, only the Z890 will support overclocking for the K series, with related products anticipated to go on sale after the National Day holiday. VideoCardz notes that the Core Ultra 200 series should currently be in the ES2 stage, with rumors suggesting it will enter the QS (Qualification Sample) stage between weeks 34-36 (August 19 to September 8).
The Core Ultra 200 series will use the LGA 1851 socket, replacing the existing LGA 1700 socket. Its P-Cores and E-Cores will be upgraded to the new Lion Cove and Skymont architectures, respectively. It is reported that Lion Cove offers a 14% improvement over the Redwood Cove architecture used in Meteor Lake, while Skymont provides a 2% enhancement over the Raptor Cove architecture.
