Intel Confirms Lunar Lake Unveiling: September Launch Date Set
As previously reported by DigiTimes, Intel has postponed the shipment of its Lunar Lake processors, delaying the release from June to September. In contrast, new generations of products from AMD and Qualcomm have already commenced shipping, potentially setting Intel back by a quarter compared to its competitors. Qualcomm, in particular, has spurred the AI PC trend through its recent collaboration with Microsoft on the CoPilot+ PC, with laptops featuring the Snapdragon X series processors having hit the market on June 18.
However, according to Benchlife, this is not the case. If Intel were to truly delay shipments until September, they would miss the September launch window. Benchlife’s sources indicate that Intel plans to officially unveil the Lunar Lake platform in early September, with the actual product launch for consumers scheduled between September 17 and 24. Products aimed at the commercial market are expected to follow in January 2025. Additionally, products equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI 300 series are likely to be released from late July to early August.
In response to the DigiTimes report, Intel officially stated:
The upcoming client processors from Intel codenamed Lunar Lake, have not been delayed. As previously disclosed, systems based on the Lunar Lake architecture are set to ship during the third quarter through to the holiday season of this year.
On another note, the K series within the desktop-oriented Arrow Lake-S and the Z890 motherboards are anticipated to be released in October. Intel is expected to host the Innovation 2024 summit on September 24-25 in San Jose, California, which may serve as the platform for launching the new generation of Core desktop processors. As for the more widely used non-K series and B860/H810 motherboards, they are expected to debut after CES 2025 in January of next year.
