Gaming on Intel’s Latest CPUs? Epic Games Offers Crash Fix
In recent times, Intel has been beset by instability issues with its 13th and 14th generation Core K/KF/KS processors. Last month, Intel released a new announcement detailing the confirmed factors causing the instability and providing current user guidelines, though no definitive conclusion has been reached yet. Motherboard manufacturers are generally concerned about Intel’s ongoing instability issues, fearing it may affect the subsequent release and sales of Arrow Lake. Some troubled game suppliers are directing customers towards the AMD platform.
If one has been following the situation from the beginning, it becomes evident that games using the Unreal Engine encountered stability issues early on, with Epic Games possibly being one of the most affected developers. Recently, Epic Games released a guide for players experiencing frequent crashes in “Fortnite” on systems using Core i9-13900K/KF/KS or Core i9-14900K/KF/KS processors.
Epic Games acknowledged the frequent crashes of “Fortnite” on Core i9-13900K/KF/KS or Core i9-14900K/KF/KS processors. The guide primarily instructs players on identifying their motherboard manufacturer and then reverting to “Intel Baseline Default Settings.” By restoring the processor to default settings and reducing power consumption limits, the stability of the game can be improved, mitigating the crashes in “Fortnite.”
Although this has somewhat alleviated the frequent crashing of “Fortnite,” some players have reported that performance may decline by more than 10% in certain cases. They believe that this level of performance reduction is substantial as a compromise.
