Funtech Opens Ryzen 9000 Pre-Orders: 9950X Priced at €659.90
At COMPUTEX 2024, AMD unveiled the next generation of products based on the Zen 5 architecture, the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors, codenamed “Granite Ridge.” Additionally, AMD introduced two new chipsets for the AM5 platform, including the X870 and X870E. It is rumored that the Ryzen 9000 series will be released on July 31 at 9 AM Eastern Time, while the X870/X870E motherboards are expected to be available in late September.
Recently, a Slovenian retailer, Funtech, began accepting pre-orders for the Ryzen 9000 series processors, with shipping indicated before August 2.
The 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X is priced at €659.90, the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X at €499.90, the 8-core Ryzen 7 9700X at €399.90, and the 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X at €309.90.
Compared to other Ryzen 7000 series processors on the same website, the new processors are not excessively priced; for instance, the Ryzen 9 7950X is priced at €510, and the X3D version at €589. At these prices, the Ryzen 9 9950X is even more affordable than the Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 9 7950X3D. However, compared to other European retailers, Funtech’s prices for the Ryzen 7000 series are not the lowest.
Typically, new processors debut at relatively high prices and then undergo gradual adjustments. In the case of Ryzen processors, significant price adjustments post-launch are not uncommon. Moreover, with the possible arrival of the Ryzen 9000X3D series as early as September, the pressure to reduce prices on the Ryzen 9000 series within a short period is likely to increase.
