Apple’s iOS 18 Supercharges AI on iPhone 15 Pro Max: 700% Boost!

Previously, we reported that Apple unveiled its AI technology, Apple Intelligence, at WWDC24. According to official sources, due to the significant computational power required by Apple Intelligence, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max currently support this technology. Recently, the developer beta version of iOS 18 was released. According to Wccftech, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, running this new system, shows a 25% improvement in Geekbench ML Score compared to iOS 17.

The article cites the testing results of X user @INIYSA. The images reveal that on iOS 17.5.1, the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored only 6249 in Geekbench ML Score. However, after upgrading to iOS 18.0, the score increased to 7816. Wccftech attributes this improvement to Apple’s introduction of a Core ML type named MLTensor in iOS 18, which employs familiar APIs for multi-dimensional array calculations.

Additionally, Apple has released estimates of AI-related software performance improvements on the iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18. The performance of running MobileNet v3 is expected to increase by approximately 2%, GPT-2 by 370%, and the most significant enhancement is seen with SSD MobileVit v2, with a staggering 700% improvement.

According to Apple’s official announcements, Apple Intelligence will be deeply integrated with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. These operating systems will support features such as automatic text optimization, prioritized notification display, voice-to-text conversion, text-to-image generation, and image background removal. The new version of Siri will also integrate Apple Intelligence, offering more natural responses, better contextual understanding, and more personalized answers, simplifying and accelerating daily tasks. Furthermore, the new Siri will feature a completely redesigned visual interface.
