AMD Ryzen 5000XT will be released on July 31st
At this year’s COMPUTEX, in addition to unveiling the Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 desktop processors, AMD has not neglected the venerable AM4 platform. They introduced the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT processors for this long-standing platform, which continues to receive updates even after eight years.
The name Ryzen 9 5900XT is somewhat misleading because the original Ryzen 9 5900X is a 12-core processor, whereas the Ryzen 9 5900XT boasts 16 cores, comparable to the Ryzen 9 5950X but with a 100MHz lower frequency. The Ryzen 7 5800XT maintains the same specifications as the Ryzen 7 5800X, with 8 cores and 16 threads, but its maximum frequency has been increased from 4.7GHz to 4.8GHz.
At the time of the announcement, AMD only mentioned that these processors would be shipped to DIY enthusiasts and channel partners in July, without providing a specific release date. Now, retailer B&H has listed these two Ryzen 5000XT processors, with a shipping date of July 31, coinciding with the release of the Ryzen 9000 series processors. This indicates that AMD will be launching six processors simultaneously at that time. Additionally, the shipment of laptops with the Ryzen AI 300 series mobile processors has been delayed until July 28, further clustering AMD’s new processor releases around that period.
Initially, AMD indicated that the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT would be priced at $359 and $249, respectively. However, they later clarified that this was a communication error, and there are currently no official suggested retail prices for these two products. Retailers have not yet listed prices for these processors, and it may be some time before we know their actual cost.
