AI Characters for All: Meta’s Studio Opens to the Public
Recently, Meta announced the launch of AI Studio, a feature built upon Meta’s proprietary Llama 3.1 model. This tool enables users to create and explore AI characters, allowing content creators to craft their own AI avatars to attract more followers.
Users can experience AI Studio on the web or through the Instagram app. Meta stated that you can create an AI using various prompt templates or start from scratch—such as an AI that can teach you how to cook, help you write Instagram captions, generate memes and jokes, etc. Moreover, the AI’s use isn’t limited to personal use; users can share their AI with friends and even make it accessible to users of Meta products like Instagram and Messenger.
For content creators, AI created by AI Studio can assist in responding to common direct message queries, and maintaining interaction with followers. They can customize the AI based on their Instagram content, topics to avoid, and links to share. Through Instagram’s professional dashboard, creators can enable or disable auto-replies and decide who the AI should respond to. Additionally, all AI replies are clearly labeled, ensuring fans can distinguish between AI and human interactions.
Meta has crafted a comprehensive guide to help users familiarize themselves with this new feature, and some users’ and content creators’ AIs are already available for trial. Meta has also established policies and safeguards to ensure people’s safety and promote responsible AI usage. Currently, this feature is only available in the United States, with no clear timeline for its global rollout.
